Kyoto Aesthetics
Hotel Okura Kyoto Okazaki Bettei
is a small luxury hotel
that is reminiscent of an adult hideaway
incorporating a simple design
that is conscious about harmony
with beautiful nature,
as well as the elegant
Kyoto traditions and culture.
KYOTO OKAZAKI
Okazaki, Kyoto is a cultural area that is home to historic sightseeing spots and museums such as Ginkaku-ji Temple, Nanzen-ji Temple, Heian Jingu Shrine and the National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto. You can enjoy the beautiful nature of each season, such as the Philosopher's Walk along Lake Biwa Canal.
Location
The hotel is in the same precincts as the Okazaki Betsuin temple of the Shinshu Otani-ha (Higashi Hongan-ji Okazaki Betsuin Temple), so you can enjoy the rich nature inside the temple precincts and the seasonal scenery of the Japanese garden from the lobby and dining area.
HIGASHIYAMA CULTURE
You can see the aesthetic senses of "Wabi/Sabi," "Texture," and "Harmony" represented by Ginkakuji Temple, as well as the basic concepts of Higashiyama culture that finds beauty in the space created by "Shoin-zukuri (traditional Japanese residential architecture)," "Garden" and "Suibokuga (ink painting)" and their continuity everywhere in the hotel.
Kyoto's traditional crafts
The hotel incorporates designs created by the project unit "GO ON" that was founded by six successors responsible for Kyoto's traditional crafts, allowing visitors to experience the beauty and handicrafts of Kyoto everywhere in the hotel.
Space that will make you feel like you are going on a stroll
The lobby area, which takes advantage of the characteristic of Japanese architecture as it extends straight from the entrance, has no partitions in the space. By loosely connecting the space, you can enjoy the scenery spreading outside the window to the fullest and experience the beauty and handicrafts of modern Kyoto scattered inside the hotel.
Guest rooms that harmonize
with the surrounding landscape
The guest rooms are arranged in such a way that guests will enjoy the feel of the materials and natural textures. There are Nishijin-ori textile of Hosoo, which depicts in three dimensions the surface of the water reflected on the lake shore as viewed from a mountain villa, and staggered shelves resembling the floor with pillars using logs inscribed with "Kitayama cedar" installed inside the rooms.
INHERITANCE
The hotel expands possibilities by breathing new life to Okura's traditions, and connecting them to the next generation while inheriting the important traditional crafts of Kyoto, Okura's French cuisine, and Okura's services that have been passed down thus far.
Nouvelle Epoque
Innovative gastronomy "Nouvelle Epoque" is a fine-dining restaurant that breathes new life to the traditions of Okura. We offer innovative and beautiful dishes with plates and cutlery that are colored with the aesthetic senses of Kyoto.
Dedication to space design
and arrangement
There are bamboo works that have been made by skilled craftsmen artfully weaving each bamboo through their advanced handicraft skills, Asahiyaki pottery pieces that embody the philosophy of "kirei-sabi (elegant beauty)" in a modern way, and art pieces by up-and-coming artists who are active mainly in Kyoto scene. The aesthetic senses of Kyoto in a new era that put color everywhere will delight the eyes of guests.
